My favourite memory…? Wow, there are so many… like when we met…

(we were roommates and I had crushed on him for a month; I used to sneak into his room and look at his artwork on his walls – which by the way he is an amazing artist, even though he won’t admit to it ;) – ... when he finally spoke to me, I ran upstairs and hid ::lol::)

. . . or our first “date” . . .

(I use the term “date” very loosely here… we had to rush me to the ER for stitches on my arm after the dishwasher fell out of place – it was not secured to the wall, to our dibbelief – and a knife that was point-up sliced me about 1/4” deep… we got a kick out of telling them that “a dishwasher attacked me” ::rotfl::)

. . . or even the day he proposed . . .

(after setting it all up, he found out that I had just found out that (a) my parents were getting divorced and (b) my cat had just passed away… but he went through with it and I am etenally glad that he did! ::happies::)

But... My favourite memory would have to be when he told me he was in love with me. =)

I have always been afraid of commitment, and I had told him that the sex was great but don’t get attached (yes I know I seriously lacked morals back then… nobody is perfect, or as serendipityprimrose says, I was ”perfectly imperfect” ;P). Yet through all of my non-committal, I-am-too-vagabond-to-get-involved BS lectures, I had grown quote fond of him. =D

So one day my then-future-husband approached me very cautiously, telling me that we “needed to talk.” o_O I thought “Ooookaaay… this can only mean one thing” and went on the I-am-about-to-get-hurt defensive.

He explained that he liked me a lot, to which I replied with “You damn well better! You’ve been f_~ing me for how long now??” I will never forget the look that he had as he tripped over telling me that he wants me to know he cares a lot about me, and again my response was something to the likes of, “yada yada yada get on with it, you want to see other people.”

To my surprise he said, “NO, will you just listen?! I think I’m in love with you!”

(O_O) – !?

I just sat there stunned for a moment, and then told him he was mistaken. He said no, he was sure he wasn’t. I explained to him that I cared very deeply for him, but I was not sure if I could return the love (I .. l o a t h e .. it when people say “I love you too” without thinking about it or meaning it, just because someone else says it first!! It is so much kinder to be honest if you do not return the feeling, and then take the time to think about it and spare the person’s feelings later down the road, instead of letting them find out that it was just said as a reply and not from the heart, like it should be).

He said that he understood, and he just wanted to be able to be together exclusively, and not see anyone else. I told him I wasn’t sure, and to my shame, I ran out the front door. Yes, I actually ran. Out the front door. Instead of facing how I felt.

I only went for a walk… a very long walk… and then I came back and told him okay, let’s give it a go. =) We decided to close the relationship and stop seeing other people.

And here is my most favourite part of this memory… ::happy sigh::

About a week later we were sitting in his truck in the Barnes and Noble parking lot, just talking, when mid-sentence (his sentence, actually =D) I realized I was in love with him too!

I cut him off right in the middle of what he was saying and exclaimed, ”OMG!! I love you too!!” =)

I think I was in shock more than anything, and I think he was too. ::lol:: He told me that I didn’t have to say that, and I told him I wasn’t just “saying that” (and that he should know me better than that), and he aked me, “Really? Seriously?”

I burst into laughter/tears and told him yes!!

.. I .. was .. in .. love .. with .. him .. !!!

And… the rest is history, complete with a hundred other stellar stories to share someday. ;)
